The Stargazer

The Stargazer

Darkness has chased the last auburn rays from the night
sky. Alone I sit under the magnificent brilliance of the
starlight. As I gaze throughout the Milky Way, my heart
is consumed by the loneliness of forgotten love. I am unable
to tarry on thoughts of my daily toil and beg the cherished
luminescence to answer my languished call. Oh compassionate
moon, thou must certainly understand emptiness. The lone
celestial body clinging to our vibrant earth, yet separated
by vast distance from thy heavenly brethren. Alone you
traverse in orbit, playing hide-and-seek as you gracefully
wax and wane. I, like so many before me, beseech thee in my
romantic plea:

Romantic moon on summer's night,
cast down on me thy hallowed light,
proffer a Goddess to my sight,
and fill my soul with grand delight!

Oh jealous cloud of ill intent,
obscure not light that heaven's sent,
spook not Goddess: Benevolent,
stiffling passions yet unspent.

Romantic moon on summer's night,
fulfill desires fiery and bright!
